Target: Vehicles manufactured between (January 13, 2009 and December 16, 2016)
Defect details: When the vehicle was first sold, it was shipped with a steering wheel without TAKATA airbags, but after shipping, it was confirmed that the customer may have installed a sports or M sports steering wheel with TAKATA airbags among BMW-approved replacement parts. The steering wheel in question is equipped with an airbag inflator using ammonium nitrate, and the compressed gas propellant inside the inflator may be deformed when the vehicle is exposed to a high temperature and humidity area for a long period of time. In this case, the front airbag on the driver's side may deploy abnormally during an accident, causing the inflator powder to rupture and causing injury to the driver. This is a recall.
